Three Generations.

Hello and welcome to our online presence. We are a small, local farm in Darke County Ohio specializing in a White Hull-Less variety of popcorn. This is a third generation business started by our grandfather, Kenneth Baker in the mid 1960’s. He raised grain crops and tobacco on the farm. Popcorn was a favorite snack in the house and this was a preferred variety being a small, tender kernel with very limited hulls when popped. It didn’t take long for family and friends to begin asking for his popcorn. To keep up with demand he had to begin raising more and more corn. This was the start of a decades long business that has grown from 4 rows of corn along the tobacco field to as much as 7 acres in recent years. Our father, Dennis Baker began assuming his role by taking over the business in the 80’s when his father retired and the farm stopped producing tobacco. He grew the business by adding microwave packaged corn, a variety of bulk size bags and butter flavored popcorn salt. This was sold at his farm, by mail-order and throughout the area at local festivals and fairs. It’s now our turn! Upon his retirement, we (his sons) are taking over the business. With that is the next installment of advances: this website, online sales and credit card processing at festivals. We thank our loyal customers for all the years of support and ask for your continued patronage as we move forward in the years ahead.

Seed is a non-genetically modified, white hull less variety producing a small, tender kernel. As this corn pops, its hull splits open into tiny fragments producing the so called “hull-less” designation. People have praised this variety of corn for its great taste and easy digestibility. Even those diagnosed with Diverticulitis have found this corn to be acceptable on their systems.
